Junior coaching program

Held after school and Sunday mornings at Eaglemont Tennis Club

Some students attend 2 or 3 sessions per week to accelerate their improvement. Private and semi private lessons are also available on request.

Term 1 2012 class timetable and pricing:

  • Term 1 2012 Junior classes are for 8 weeks on Sunday and Mondays due to the Labour Day holiday (March 11 and 12) and 9 weeks for classes Tuesday to Fridays.

Term 1 2012 Dates

  • Monday January 30 to Sunday to Sunday April 1 2012
  • Sunday morning classes commence Sunday February 5 2012
  • Description of different classes:
  • 45 minute - Beginner-intermediate (ages 5 – 8) standard lessons
    3.45pm to 4.30 pm
    Lessons focus on the development of sound and effective technique on forehand, backhand, volley, smash & serve (including the use of correct grips). All lessons provide participants exposure to rallying practise and singles/ doubles play and appropriate court etiquette during competitive play.
  • 60 minute - Intermediate-advanced (ages 8 – 12) standard lessons
    4.30 to 5.30 pm (Thursday 4.45pm – 5.45pm)
    Lessons focus on the development of advanced stroke technique; particularly topspin, slice and improvement of rallying consistency, net play and service power. A balance is provided between stroke correction and technique and the development of different strategies for singles and doubles play.
  • 90 minute squad - Advanced standard squads
    5.30 to 7pm (5 to 6.30 pm Fridays, not held Thursdays)
    Lessons focus on the development of advanced stroke techniques and tactical play in singles and doubles, as well as footwork and fitness improvement through competitive drills and an overall emphasis on individual improvement.

Prorata lessons

  • All children who enrol after the first week of coaching will have coaching fees applied on a pro-rata basis (i.e. missed lessons will not be included).

 

The coaching program

Head Coach Shane Scrutton runs the Yarra Tennis Coaching program at the picturesque Eaglemont Tennis Club. In his 10th year as Head Coach Shane has developed a program that caters for 5-year-old beginners up to elite squad players. After school classes run for 45 minute, 1 hour and 90 minute sessions (depending on standard) to cater for pupil progression and development.
