WHAT IS THE YARRA TENNIS JUNIOR PATHWAY?

Creating a successful junior coaching pathway is more than just teaching things like forehands, volleys and grips (although they're pretty important too). It's also about creating the right learning environment (a positive one) and developing each player individually so that they can reach their potential. In this way, the program has to fit the child, not the other way round.

The Yarra Tennis pathway has been developed over 20 years of coaching at Eaglemont Tennis Club. It's aim is to provide a program that provides a comprehensive opportunity for children of any age and standard to start to learn the skills of the sport, and provide a progressive system where players can improve their tennis.

It integrates this with opportunities to play competitively and for juniors to compete at the right level so they can also develop competition skills at the club level. And from there, well, the sky is the limit.

Within this pathway there is a central theme - to provide a positive, consistent, professional learning environment where players are challenged and, above all, develop a love of the sport.
